We now know who Liverpool’s top midfield target is for this summers transfer window, according the reliable Paul Joyce of The Times, that man is Napoli’s Jorginho.
“The wish list in the first two instances could take the Liverpool manager to Serie A. Napoli’s holding midfielder Jorginho would be the Merseyside club’s first choice, the problem being that the Brazilian-born Italian international would be the same for just about every elite side in Europe.”
Jorge Luiz Frello Filho, better known as Jorginho is a 26-year-old central midfielder and an Italian international, he was born in Brazil but move to Italy at a young age where he started his career with Verona.
Position & Attributes
While he can play the box to box role in midfield, his best position is as the defensive midfield position where he can use his best strength of reading the game to his advantage.
Jorginho is also a great passer of the ball, this season he has a pass completion rate of 89% and when he does pass it is usually a forward pass.
With two years still on his contract and plenty of admirers looking to sign him, potential suitors would have to cough up between £30-£45m to sign Jorginho.
Napoli however do seem to be willing sellers as confirmed by his agent recently when he said
I think we’ll discuss a renewal at the end of the season, as it’s not the moment to talk about that, because he still has a long contract. He wants to stay, although we’ll have to see if Napoli agree with that.
I think they’d rather sell Jorginho than Amadou Diawara, who is younger.
