Thomas Lemar, 21, is a £70m target for Liverpool, he can play in midfield or the left wing.
If this sounds familiar it probably is because this is the same position that Barcelona target Coutinho plays in.
But if Coutinho was to go could Lemar really replace the little magician?
A word that FSG has been synonymous with and strikes fear into must Liverpool’s fans hearts.
Phillipe Coutinho signed for Inter Milan in the January transfer window of 2012 for £12m and with the club paying him a wage of circa £26m in the last 5 years, a sale to Barcelona could see the Reds pocket a cool £30m profit even after buying Lemar.
Granted the French and Premier League are a different kettle fish, but stats wise Lemar certainly matches up to Coutinho
On top of this he is four years younger, which we all know that FSG are a big fan of.
The final point could prove to be the most important point, trust is huge for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.
We saw how fast he bombed out Mamadou Sakho after his list of indiscretions, he surely can’t be happy how Coutinho has behaved in this window, from handing in transfer request to a mysterious back injury which has kept him out all season but he is fit to play for Brazil.
I also find it telling that anytime Klopp is asked about Coutinho he say’s that the owners have made their decision, reading between the lines Klopp could very well now be happy to let him go especially if a replacement can be brought in before hand.
Of course in an ideal world Thomas Lemar would be brought in to play alongside Coutinho but Coutinho was to go could the French international be the perfect replacement?
